About Joe Mitchell: I grew up in Crosby, MN where I played sports throughout high school. After high school I went to work for my brother-in-law's construction company for a few years. I decided I'd like to be able to walk when I was 40, so I started my undergraduate program at Bemidji State University. I received a B.S. in Marketing Communications with a Minor in Psychology. I met my wife there and we ended up moving to Kansas City for a better job market and because my sister lived down there. I worked as a landscaping manager for a few years while I was going to grad school. Once I received my M.B.A. in Organizational Leadership from Ashford University, I started my career with Knight Transportation. We had our first son, Noah at this time. They promoted me to the Terminal Manager for the Minnesota Division so we moved back there after about a year with Knight.
We were in Minnesota for about 3 years and we had our daughter Avery there. Work was good and they asked me to run the Pennsylvania Terminal for Knight, which was about four times the size of the Minnesota terminal so we accepted and moved out there. We were out there for about a year, and we decided the east coast wasn't for us. We had no support system and the kids really missed their extended families. We decided to look for something back here (either in Minnesota or Wisconsin). I found this job in the early summer of '16 and we moved to Taylor County, Wisconsin at the end of July that year. At the end of 2016, we bought the house we're in now in the City of Medford.
The following year, we had our son, Mason, and here we are. Aside from spending time with my family, my favorite thing to do is golf. I've golfed for most of my life and there's really no place I'd rather be than on a golf course! I like to fish quite a bit too. I'd say those are my two favorite pastimes.
